This is the preview from Ransom for their Spring/Summer 2010 line. The preview has two main aspects, the letterman jackets and the plaid. You can see the plaid on the insides of the pants and on the shirts. Overall the preview looks good but doesn't give too much away, I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Personally I can see a resemblance of other shoes in these ones, but they are somewhat different which makes them original, I guess. But still the line is solid and features some nice shoes.

A main thing that sets them apart is recognizing them, they dont have huge logo's on them so recognizing what they are is somewhat difficult. But I think that really adds to how neat the shoes are. So the summer is here, and in my house that means its time for me to work. I have been working six days a week around 10 hours a day since the day after exams have started, and to be honest I am already tired. Like I could have got a regular job at a store or something but working in a warehouse is really different and its nice in its own ways. All of us in the back have our own family in a sort, and help each other out. Working there is real fun. I have worked there before but this year things are different.

I have become to be more observant and understanding. I have began to understand what a persons true character is, and how some people or just genuinely nice people. Those genuinely nice people, are the coolest, most relaxed, dope, people to have around. They are truly the people who need to be role models to all of us. I have also began to understand some more things about effort and how important it is.

I am beginning to realize that without effort nothing comes, you must work hard to achieve anything in life. But then on the other hand I see people come to the warehouse who haven't taken a single day off in 18 years (No lie) and haven't achieved what they wanted to. There is also a huge dose of luck and fate in all achievements. Some people work hard sometimes, but the reality is they just got lucky. It happens; and unfortunately these are the stories that everyone hears about. They don't hear about the dude that has been slaving over a stove in his restaurant for years and still hasn't got any recognition.

The thing is that you have to commit, be prepared to put in the effort, and truly believe in what you are doing, without these things you are wasting your time. Put in and honest effort, it is the bare minimum that you can do to give yourself what you truly deserve.

SCHOOL IS OUT!

The past 2-3 weeks have been so hectic working on final assignments and studying for those hard exams. If your up on my twitter you know how crap was really crazy. I was up until 2 with my nose in a book (literally when I fell asleep my nose would be in the book). Anyways I don't have to tell you guys about all that crap, I'm sure most of you know how it is.

But the main thing is that it is done, summer is officially here. (F*CK YES!) Its time for chilling on the beach(NOT), its actually time to buckle down and begin work out this whole thing we call TAU. We are focusing in on the picture this summer, buckling down and looking where we want to go and how to get there. We need to put this thing to scale, it is very important. We need to understand that reaching for the stars without getting your feet off of the floor is impossible. You got to practice jumping. I hope to god that I have one shirt, for school. Even if it is just one shirt, it needs to drop. I have this one design in my head that needs to be released into Brampton. It just needs to be out in the wild.

I want to do so much this summer, but it is only 2 months. I think this is going to be one of the quickest summers ever, it always is when you are busy. Our summers are booked silly, and Im sure yours are too. Anyways I'm back into BLOG MODE so everything is going to be back to normal.

We have a preview for two caps from the Ransom Spring/Summer collection. The first is a ransom flag cap which has ransom written on the front, and a flag coming out of the 'N'.The cap comes in 3 colours; black, purple and red. It also has the ransom swords and stars logo at the back.

The second cap is a very simple design. The caps are totally canvas with the ransom block logo embroidered on the back in the same colour as the cap. This cap comes in 6 different colours; Black, blue, burgundy, white, orange/pink and a teal.

Imagination is a beautiful thing, I remember as a kid a lot of the the crazy things I would imagine. I would imagine that: Teachers were actually robots who were programmed to be evil, that people lived in the T.V and they lived off the dust that was at the back of the T.V set, that the moon was truly made of cheese. I used to lay in my bed at night and imagine all the things that interested me, and how the world works. I still do it sometimes to this day. Just lay there staring at my ceiling and imagine what is to come in the future, how crap is the way it is, how bad things happen to great people, and so much other junk. Sometimes I wont be moving at all but my mind literally races. It is so difficult to explain, if it has happened to you then you know what I am talking about. There are a million different thoughts that I am thinking about at the same time, and hundreds of things on my to do list and all of it just seems to rush into my head at about the exact same time.

I kind of think that this happens because I stress myself to much, or because I don't. I wish that instead of these crazy head rushes I could just sit relax and imagine. Imagining is amazing because we get to truly get out of the box and live in our own world. I truly envy kids, because their imagination flies the wildest. They see no boundaries and that is truly how it should be. I think that we should all imagine, imagine a true world, where people don't have to be slaves for pennies, where we can live in harmony, where you can achieve your goals and dreams, where you can be yourself. Imagine when we didn't have a care in the world, where people's lives were respected and not wasted on stupid things like drunk driving, violence, or HIV. But, how about just imagining living your dream.

Just imagine people. Imagine.

No point in stressing out, things will be okay. Lay down and imagine.

These days you don't have to look far to realize that the world is becoming something that it isn't. People are being genuinely fake, and the funny part of it is that they don't see it as something being wrong. They think it is normal to be fake, it is proper because there are so many others that are fake. They have been around it their whole life so it is hard to break the chain. They walk around with a mask on trying to be someone they aren't and they pass with it. They live life as a fake as a played out character.
I remember studying character's in Drama class, There were two types regular characters and then true characters. A regular character is what you usually see from a person, what is on the surface the simple things. The things that you notice quickly like; how they walk and what their personality is like. True characters are the ones that we hardly see, they are the characters that are hidden in many cases. The only way to see true character is by putting pressure on the character. You need to put the character in a stressful situation to get the true character.
One day we will all take off our masks and not care what others think, show our true selves. Show what we have always been longing to show. We will show our true characters and be proud of it. But for everyone's sake lets hope that time comes quickly or creativity is being threatened.

In middle school my school 'moto' was Believe and succeed and I remember it was all over the place; on the wall, in news letters, in speeches, and in so many other places. It was really obvious they wanted it to be implanted into our brain. But I didn't understand how it could mean anything to anyone, I thought; just because you believe something doesn't mean you will succeed at it. I thought: how can believing something achieve success. But now, I am understanding how it works, how that middle school 'moto' makes sense.
If you believe something you are motivated, and willing to work towards achieving it; thus leading you to success. It doesn't mean that just believing something will lead to success, but it is a great foundation. I believe that one day TAU will be up and running and we will be able to make a significant impact on Canadian streetwear. And because I believe this ~~I am~~ we are motivated to working towards it. Believing in something is a great feeling, because it gives you a feeling like you are someone who is doing something others are not.
But believing also has it's downsides. People believe in things that are useless, that can harm, and that have no meaning. People believing in violence solving problems, stealing to break poverty, lying for the truth, and all this other crap. When you believe in these types of things you are believing but in something that has no meaning and the little meaning that it does have is negative.
We all believe in something, and are all allowed to. But watch out what we believe in and ensure that your actions don't have others believing in something you don't.

I am always interested in the making of a product especially jewelry, so the people over at TSL Armor made this short video of them making their Click Clack pendant. The chuck has not been in the forefront of alife line, but with these new colourways it will surely get some more attention. The shoe has that chukka/dessert boot feel to it with a sneaker vibe around the midsole. The top has suede and canvas materials with a white midsole. Relay for life | Akbar&Fahmad

On Friday we were busy working on Relay for life, which is basically an event that schools hold in partnership with the Canadian cancer society. It is a day where we celebrated cancer survivors, raised money, and just got time to hang out with friends. Akbar and I woke up at 5 in the morning, then started loading the car and got to school at 6:30; we left at 11:00 PM. Basically it was a very long day including a lot of running around organizing people.
There was a DJ, cotton candy, games, people running the track, food, tents, inflatables, and so much more. It was a jam packed day with a lot going on. We were basically running around all day and by noon, I couldn't feel my feet. I learned that organizing big events is much harder then It looks and when you just come out to say "Eh, yo this sucks" you are letting down a bunch of people that worked so hard to bring forth something; for you. The event went good, there were some minor bumps but those were straightened out for the most part.
But one of the biggest things that I learned is that a conclusion does a lot to prove your point. I learned this at the end of the night, near the closing ceremonies. At 9:30 we all went out to the front of the school to see everyone's luminaries lines up along the driveway. Almost everyone was dedicated to a lost one, then slowly people began to walk around as some calm guitar was played in the back by some dude in Grade Twelve. There was some ambient lighting the DJ brought, the calm orange spot lights that shined onto the school and the lights given by the luminaries. It was an amazing feeling to be a part of. People walked by reading everyone even making a few rounds looking for their own, for friends and admiring others. You could hear people saying things like "Wow, I didn't know cancer affected so many at our school" or "This made my day" or other things. And just standing back and watching people react and show true emotion really was calm. The school was united, we were one. It was amazing to see people show their true emotion. Seeing that made the whole days efforts worth it.

If your school ever has a 'Relay for life' make sure that you participate it is one of the greatest events ever. I want to thank the rest of the Committee because they were freaking awesome. Thanks, to everyone that came out.

The album has some great songs and is put together by DJ ev. Dat kid from Cleveland hit this one far. There are rumours that Drake had beef with him but he denies it and says that they are in the new generation of hip-hop and there will be no beef. To me History is one of the most fascinating things, especially Canadian history. Almost every generation has some crazy story that they can tell us, something that they can share with the world. Fighting in a war, being a hippie, beginning a revolution, fighting discrimination. What will we have to say? What will we have to tell? That we fought our selves to 'fight terrorism', that we created the highest criminal rates ever seen, that we killed the earth then tried to fix it, that we ruined the economy with purchasing things that we couldn't afford, that we ruined Hip-Hop, that we produced the most powerful nuclear weapons ever. Is this what our generation will be known for?
Or will we be the E-Generation that can't survive without technology, without cellphones, laptops, Ipods and cameras. From my point we have done a lot of good but what will be in the eyes of historians when writing or typing of the 90s babies? Will we be a generation that they skip and go onto the millennium babies? Who knows what is to come, but I just hope that we are seen for all the good that we have done and all the good that we will do.

But one thing I know for sure is that The Avanti Unleashed will be in history.

Okay so today my baby cousin(2) was over and wanted to watch T.V. She is only two and she wanted to watch T.V and the funniest/saddest part is that she knew what chanel it was on! She took the remote from my hands and put on a kids channel from between Chanel 64 and 66 you guess which one is it. Anyways as I was watching the show it was some horrible 3-D characters that weren't even speaking English and were just being dumb. It was horrible, like what kind of a childhood can you have if you don't have good cartoons as you grow up?
Cartoons honestly are some of the most inspiring things, because I think of them as an artist being able to create his own world, his own characters, his own story through a series of a pieces. One of the most memorable cartoons for me has to be; Rugrats! The show was so appealing to me as a kid because I guess it was just cool as a kid. But the weird thing is that it is still interesting for me now as a teen. But now it is interesting to me for other reasons, two prominent reasons. The first is the art; the artists style is shown in every scene from the outlines, variety of colours, and even the shot angles. Anyways Rugrats is just simple proof that great design lasts long, even if it is in a cartoon.

Today people all around the world are going to recycle the water bottle they usually throw away, they will walk to the corner store instead of taking their car, they will cook with organic vegetables instead of the ones which use pesticides; just because it is earth day. I love the earth, and thank god that he gave it to us. But just because it is earth day people that didn't give a crap yesterday are going to be environmentally friendly today. Basically what I'm trying to say is just because today is labeled 'earth day' we don't need to act different just for today, we need to change our habits for our whole lifestyle. Its easy to say but hard to do, small changes like sorting your trash, unplugging things that you are not using, shorter showers, CFL lighting, and many other small things will help. We have all got to try, if not for ourselves, or for anyone else for the earth. So it isn't earth day it is earth year, or better yet earth life.

Skate Decks | Deck stool

We had the used skateboard jewelry on the blog and now some people have found another way to recycle used and abused skate decks. They have made them into stools and have cleverly named them deck stools. The decks that are used are all originals and still have all the skid marks on them, the whole stool is held together with a modified truck. The story is that the head dude's brother handed him a pile of broken decks and told him to make something with them. He saw that a lot were broken at the trucks and some were broken in half. So playing around with the ones broken at the truck as legs and the ones broken in halves as a seat; he created the deck stool. Their limited edition model costs $185.00 CAD and if you send them your broken decks they will make a stool for $155.00 CAD. COP IT

Ransom by Adidas Originals | Preview

Ransom has just teamed up with Adidas to release some preview pictures on thier new collaborative boot. We can only see one colour way which is the black leather. The laces are real cool, because they are raw leather laces. In one of the pictures it says "Ransom Holding Co. and Adidas Originals present season one of an ongoing collaboration. Footwear crafted to withstand a rugged lifestyle and designed to stand the test of time. Made for individuals in constant motion, continuously searching for a life well led and a good story to tell." What is success, and why are we always trying to achieve it if we don't know what it is? In everyone's mind there is the 'dream' life the 'successful' life. But if we don't know how to define success how will we know if we ever achieve it? I always hear people saying that there is not enough money, once you get to a million you will want 10 million. It never stops, success is a goal that is always an equal distance from you the closer you get the further back it goes. But this only applies if you measure success in worldly things.
If one measures their success in their health, how happy they are, how good they are to their family and friends and other non-worldly things then they can achieve success. When one achieves that success they are the people that are always happy, the ones that take the dark aspects of life and shine light onto it. They are the ones that people go to for help and advice, they are the ones that make you feel great. They are the people that we all secretly want to be like.
Like all people at times in life I begin to measure success by how much is in my account, the shirt on my back and the car we roll up in. But it makes no difference, it never has and never will. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying to be an amish or something along those lines. Enjoy life, but don't let life get the best of you.
Ensure that you are enjoying life for yourself, and not for others. Go buy those $200 dollar shoes if they make you happy, but don't buy them if you want someone to acknowledge them.
When we started The Avanti Unleashed like all young people I dreamed of having a huge empire in a massive skyscraper, living the canadian dream. But now looking back at those thoughts I will never want to achieve that success if I have to sacrifice my happiness or health. It is not worth it. The Avanti Unleashed is going to achieve success one day, in my eyes it has already achieved many levels of success.

Be successful, we know you will be and when you are come back and tell us what success you have achieved. If you achieve true success we will hear from you soon enough, if you achieve a facade that is success I know we will never hear from you again. So let me take this time to say good-bye, farewell, peace, later, hasta-la-vista, to all you fakes.

I was at the Puma store just last week and I saw the Puma Lift shoe, I went over and picked it up. This is the lightest shoe that I have ever held, like unbelievably light. They are compared to a cup of tea, that's how heavy they are just a small cup of tea! Another cool part of this shoe is how they use so many materials, the back has injected foam, micro suede, and oval mesh. The shoe is very open and airy to give your feet room to breathe. Most of the materials are glued together to save weight. The shoe comes in four colour ways. Comme des Garcons PLAY joined up with sneaker manufacturers Converse to release their play on the Chuck Taylor model. They didn't really change that much other then the midsole and the tone of the white is different.
