Toronto

So the reason I didn't blog on Tuesday is because I was in Toronto for the day and when I came back I had no energy at all! I was there initially for a tour around Ryerson, the university was really nice and the programs fit me well but the tour was corny. So after the tour we (Ricky + I) met up with my cousin and grabbed some food to stuff our face with as we listened to his messed up stories. Then we headed over to the spadina/richmond area and hit the stores. I was quite surprised at how some people actually knew about the avanti blog! We hit up livestock first and started talking with Los (real cool dude) and he was like yeah your blog is good just need to get more people to it! I was like wow, this guy knows about our blog! We slid over to adrift which had some sick decks (check them out!)

Then we hit up the whole nomad, goodfoot, stussy and ransom building. We went to GoodFoot first where we met up with Photo will. He is one of the most chilled out guys, I told him who I was and he knew about the blog too! So we started talking and I told him how the line is releasing this summer and asked him if he could do the lookbook. He said yeah, so the summer '09 lookbook will probably be done by T.O's best photographer; photo will!

Then we ran up to Ransom. I looked over at the counter, and the dude looked kind of familiar. He was from the lookbook with drake (check image #3,6). He was really cool too, and we started talking bout how Drake is blowing up. And he was like how drake is a really cool dude, then i picked up a UNDFTD shirt from thier spring collection.

Then hopped over to stussy and got a limited edition Stussy toronto 2008 chapter store tee! I was so gassed! Then got a Nike sportswear fitted, from the flagship store on queen. Then we headed back to union and bussed it back home to BRAMPTON! It was a good day. -Vaiz

Buisiness BOYS | Akbar&Fahmad

Akbar and I are both sons of families with businesses. We are always working and are always helping out the family. We know that it may seem weird to some people that we are always working, but go ask any son or daughter of a family business and they know how it feels. We are all in the same situation. But the fact is that our parents have done good for themselves and we are so proud of them. We just hope that they are as proud of us as we are of them. Both of us are from parents that immigrated here, they came here and struggled the hardest so we do not have to struggle that much. We are still going to struggle but it is nice to have a source of inspiration to look at when we do. Our parents worked very hard, and earned their stacks responsibly and honorably. We have to do it big, or else all their hard work went to waste.

Dreamer | Akbar&Fahmad

Everyone dreams, weather it is a small dream of purchasing an avanti unleashed t-shirt. Or a far fetched dream like being the last person on earth. Dreams are such a marvelous thing and contain so many aspects of us in them. Everyone's dreams and aspirations are theirs, nobody else has them. But when one finds another person who shares their aspirations and dreams it is amazing. You feel as if parts of your brain are in their head. Akbar and I both had a dream of a clothing line, of creating art that others could be a part of, of making something that can be recognized by others as true quality and craftsmanship. We want to make a culture, a subculture which includes the good and evil of many cultures. We want to make something that we can sit back and be proud of. We are not some conceded people that only have dreams of wearing diamonds, stacking paper, owning a Escalade or living in the highest penthouse in Brampton. But the view is nice from up here, in the penthouse.

MEET UP!

So today Akbar and I had a meeting with a lot of banks to get some stuff straightened out. We had to make sure that we were ready with our account being handled properly when the line launches. We were walking around and saw something truly Canadian; Snow and Tims

We also met with our other associate who's name is Popeye, and damn can that dude make some sick Cajun chicken and fries. They were hot fire. I would give him the buisiness at anytime he wanted if he became my personal chef.

We also got to finalize our first line. We now know the amount of shirts and which designs. We picked a natural number '5'. There will be '5' shirts. There are '3' men's and '2' woman's shirts. There is only one design which will be for women and men which is titled 'the akbar.' So come on in guys we are open, or will be very soon.

We're all Going to die.

This Picture is over 100 meters long. It is called "We're all going to die." The pictures were taken by Simon Hogsberg over a course of 20 days. The location is on a bridge in Berlin. Not many know he is taking their picture. The photographer says there are 178 people, a lot of them have some character, check them out. Its very interesting. CHECK IT OUT HERE.
