This was our first interview, and who else could be better. Humble the poet is an awesome local MC that has talent that touches the sky!

1.You have just recently made a lot of noise in our community and people are starting to know whom you are. Do you think that your hype was channeled from Harman the hater?
Harman The Hater helped me gain the initial exposure to get my work out there. Both Harman the Hater and Humble the Poet are projects that mutually benefit from each others exposure.

2.You made the song titled I fucks with Gaza, do you truly feel affected by the whole situation in Gaza? And what are your views on the whole situation?
Its an ugly situation, Israel is getting away with a lot of atrocities mainly due to the support they receive from the U.S. I view it as one nation occupying and oppressing people of another for the sake of land, resources, and control. Being in north America, I obviously have the luxuries of being critical of the situation from the comfort of my own home. I recently released a remix to Sikh Knowledges Palestine Ch-Ching where I address armchair activism and tribute Rachel Corrie, a real champion of that cause. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1g7Kwb-p3E

3.Who are your favourite artists?
In terms of hip hop, my favourties will have to be Outkast, Lauryn Hill, and Sikh Knowledge.

4.The GTA hip-hop game is not very well known, not even to the people in the GTA. What do you think about the GTA Hip-hop game?
The problem with hip hop in many cities is the lack of cohesion and support artists show each other. You really have to be a pioneer or find U.S success these days to become a force in your city. I do most of my promotion online, so Im not really involved in the cities hip hop movement.

5.Do you enjoy performing live in front of an audience or do you enjoy recording your music and releasing?
Performing live definitely gives the instant validation for your work. You get the opportunity to see how people feel about what your sharing. The energy you get performing infront of crowds is great. Im lookin forward to performing more as my name gets out there. Its a trip meeting people who have some of my lyrics memorized already. I can only imagine what it would feel like to be rocking a whole crowd who are rapping along with me.
Recording and releasing is great, Im always reaching a larger and more diverse audience, and the feedback I get through youtube comments is validating. I also get a chance to review and rework my stuff. I guess it is a toss up.

6.When will we be blessed with a Humble the poet mix tape or album?
Its available for free download at my site.

7.Are you going to focus on your music as a main career or are you going to just do it on the side?
Being creative for a living is a very appealing idea. I have however read enough horror stories of the music industry to be cautious towards the idea. I currently work 2 jobs and write on the side. I guess the benefit of doing this full time, would be having more time to write.

8.What had inspired you or interested you into making music?
I was always into writing and poetry growing up. I really think its important for people to be creative through whatever medium they choose. I realized that working on my ability to articulate myself can be beneficial for others, and I ran with it.

9.If there was any artist in the world you could collaborate on a song with, who would it be?
That would be a long list. If I worked with the artists I look up to, Ill end being the weakest part of the song. Im going to say Lauryn Hill.

10.Do you have any advice for anyone who want to enter into the game? Any problems that you have faced so far that you want to share?
Advice wise, I would just want to share with folks that talent is a matter of opinion, but work ethic isnt. Anything we want to accomplish in life requires work, so make sure your working harder than everyone else. Learn from folks who are in positions you want to be, and share with folks who want to be in your position. Im having fun with this, and have no reason to complain so far.

Humble the Poet | I F**Ks With Gaza

The people there are having to pay a price for something that others have put upon them. Imagine you being planted with a bomb by someone, but you are the one being prosecuted when everyone knows you did not do anything. This summer I went to the air show, and it scared me because of how loud they are, I knew that they were not going to harm me but they are so loud and scary. I can't imagine having to live in a place like gaza where you hear these planes and don't know if you will be alive the next second. They say that it is because of Hammas and terrorists but if you push one in a corner for so long they will fight back. Agreed that by Hammas shooting missiles he did wrong, but how can all these children, woman, and elders be a part of this terrorist union. How can schools be a part of a terrorist mission. When things don't sound right they usually are not! Get your facts straight. Some of you may be like, I know this guys voice. I think i have seen him before. Well to take you out of the confusion he is in some of the harman the hater episodes and his voice is usually the narrator. He is a poet and goes by the name of 'Humble the poet'.
